It is the conviction of this church that because such matters as heaven, hell, Christian growth, the world, the flesh, Satan, and the Church are serious matters, preaching should reflect the eternal importance of these matters by being itself serious. Preaching at North Park aims to meet these realities with the seriousness they deserve without being oppressive or legalistic. It is our belief that those who are most joyful in their faith are also very serious about it. We take to heart the concern that church ought "to once again become a place where life is given its most serious and searching analysis." (David F. Wells)
